Income support

Income support

NASpI

The New Social Insurance for Employment (NASpI) is the monthly unemployment benefit for employees who have involuntarily lost their job. It is requested from INPS within the legal deadlines and depends on the contributions paid and the length of employment. It replaced ASpI and the mobility allowance.

DIS-COLL

It is the monthly unemployment benefit for coordinated and continuous collaborators, including project-based ones, and for PhD students with a grant who have involuntarily lost their job. Initially experimental, it has been made permanent by law.

Agricultural unemployment benefit

A benefit for farm workers listed in the registers of agricultural workers who meet the contribution requirements.

Unemployment benefit for repatriated workers

A payment for Italian workers repatriated from non-EU countries without an agreement, calculated on the conventional wages set each year by ministerial decree.

NASpI if you move to EU and EEA countries or Switzerland

European coordination rules apply to citizens of the European Union, the European Economic Area (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway) and Switzerland, stateless persons, refugees and third-country nationals living in an EU State and insured in at least two Member States. Under certain conditions they allow work periods to be added together and unemployment benefit to be received while looking for work in another European country.

Mobility allowance and mobility by derogation

The mobility allowance and mobility by derogation have been abolished: workers dismissed from 1 January 2017 can no longer access them. Protection in case of job loss is now provided by NASpI and other social safety nets.

Spa and thermal treatments

INPS grants spa and thermal treatments, once insurance, contribution and health requirements are verified, to prevent, delay or remove a state of invalidity. They can only be taken during holiday periods, except for the exceptions provided by law.

Inclusion allowance and Training and work support

For low-income families and for those looking for work who want to retrain there are the new national measures ADI and SFL: read the page Inclusion allowance and Training and work support.
