ISEE 2027: renew your DSU from 1 January, with more favourable rules

Every ISEE expires on 31 December. Since 2026 your home counts less and families with children are better protected: here is what to know.

ISEE 2027: renew your DSU from 1 January, with more favourable rules
In brief

  • the 2026 ISEE expires on 31 December 2026: the new DSU can be submitted from January 2027
  • your main home is excluded up to €91,500 (€120,000 in Rome and the other metropolitan capitals)
  • an extra allowance for children now starts from the second child

The ISEE is needed for the Single child allowance (Assegno unico), the Inclusion allowance, child bonuses, university fees, school canteens and many other benefits. Each certificate is valid until 31 December of the year it is issued: from January 2027 you need to submit a new DSU.

What changed with the 2026 Budget Law

  • the home you live in does not count as wealth up to a value of €91,500 (€120,000 if you live in Rome or another metropolitan capital), net of the mortgage;
  • the equivalence scale now gives an increase from two children, no longer only from the third;
  • government bonds and postal savings bonds remain excluded up to €50,000.

The new rules apply in particular to the Single child allowance, the Inclusion allowance, the Training and work support, the nursery bonus and the newborn bonus.

Why not to wait

For the Single child allowance, if you do not submit the new ISEE by the end of February, from March you only receive the minimum amount (you get the arrears if you submit it by 30 June).
